About Max Christian Hansen

Max Hansen with a baby

Max Christian Hansen is all about the future. (That’s why his business portraits have babies in them.)

Max is a management consultant who has been studying technological innovation, leadership, and marketing for over two decades. A stint at Sun Microsystems in the early 90s allowed him to study how technology companies come to dominate markets. In doing this research, he discovered that although the term “thought leader” was often used, nobody had really studied what it meant—or could mean. In 2003, he set out to remedy the situation.

From 1992 through 2001 Hansen operated the consulting firm The Max Hansen Group, which focused on innovation, incubation, and technology marketing. In 2003, Hansen semi-retired and served for four years as pastor at a small church in Berkeley, California. In 2007 he returned to consulting.

The Max Hansen Group is now more focused than ever on helping smart people and companies take positions as thought leaders. The firm is now nearly as much a PR firm as a strategy consultancy. Max’s recent work for clients has included

  • increasing their coverage in the mainstream press,
  • increasing the quality of their exposure in the social media, and
  • placing thought-leadership articles for them in prestigous publications (one recent client saw his top line more than triple as a result of being published in the Harvard Business Review.)
